As their prime purpose is displaying video, screen tearing is the deal breaker. Is Geminilake older model? Anyone know another method to resolve screen tearing on Ubuntu?
I recently moved into Debian 10 trough Crunchbang++. As before, I found myself dealing with the infamous screen tearing issue. Before, with other Debian versions, I used to fix it with a simple tweak by modifying compton parameters. In Debian 10, with an Intel graphics card, I needed to add a configuration file to the X11 system.

There are good videos to check for screen tearing errors. First thing for me to check would be if the tearing occurs on Chrome/Chromium in the same way as with Firefox. If that’s the case how does video playback look with a offline video from the hard disk with the installed video player? Maybe only distortions while in full screen mode?

I set it to OpenGL 3.1 right now, but my other options are OpenGL 2.0 or Xrender...I'm not sure which to choose, but I've tried all three and I still get screen tearing. I hope I didn't miss anything that's useful, but that's everything I've changed or checked. The tearing doesn't make it unwatchable, but it makes it less than ideal and annoying.
